Live Stat Tracking, Reinvented: The New Action-First Tracker for Basketball

Why we rebuilt the live stat tracker

Anyone who's kept stats courtside knows the old "pick player, then stat" flow doesn't match how the game actually happens. You see the action first — 3-pointer made — and only then look up who took the shot. So we flipped it.

The new flow

1. Pick your 5 starting players for each team at tip-off
2. Tap the action button (2pt made, 2pt miss, 3pt, def reb, off reb, steal, block, turnover, assist, foul)
3. The 5 on-court players appear — tap whoever the stat belongs to
4. Back to the main screen, ready for the next action

The center column scrolls a chronological play feed (color-coded made/miss/neutral) so you can verify your last entry at a glance.

Power-user shortcuts

• Swipe-left or long-press the most recent play to undo it — no reaching for the corner button mid-game
• Top-of-screen team toggle for who you're scoring; tap the 6th tile in the player picker to switch to the other team for a single stat (steals against, blocks against)
• Dedicated sub flow: tap sub → bottom sheet shows sub-OUT then sub-IN selection

A real game clock

Every game now ships with a configurable countdown clock (8:00 / 10:00 / 12:00 / 15:00 / 20:00). Start/pause is server-synced, multi-device safe — and every stat you record is auto-stamped with the live game clock value. The clock stops at 0:00 (no negatives) and resets cleanly on quarter advance.

Every single stat now reads "Q1 · 7:42" in the play feed, in the box-score modal, and in the post-game key moments rail. Real moments, real timestamps.
